BSc (Hons) Applied Social Sciences (1547)

You must take the core course units in Year 1 which all Applied Social Sciences students take, irrespective of pathway. These must be passed in order to progress to the next year. Compulsory course units must be taken but, as long as sufficient credit points and an average pass across 8 course units have been achieved, the successful completion of these particular course units may not be a pre-requisite for progression.

YEAR 1
You are required to study 8 course units as follows:
 
Core course units:
SOCI1007 Social Science Perspectives (Semester I)
STAT1003 Introduction to Quantitative Methods (Semester I)
   
Compulsory course units:
SOCI1003 Social Problems and Social Policy (Semester I)
SOCI1013 Foundations in Social Theory: Traditions of Thought and Argument (Semester II)
   
+ at least 2 course units from the following list:
ANTH1001 Exploring Other Cultures (Semester II)
CRIM1002 Introduction to Psychological Perspectives in Criminology (Semester I)
CRIM1001 Society and Crime: Sociological Perspectives (Semester II)
SOCI1012 The Making of Psychology (Semester II)
   
You may also take up to 2 course units from outside the programme.

SOCI2011 Key Concepts in Social Theory and Practice (compulsory course unit)
