The General Academic Regulations which are in Section IV (General Academic Regulations) of the University Calendar apply to and regulate the programmes listed above.
On occasion, programmes can be exempted from one or more of the clauses in the General Academic Regulations, or one or more of the clauses can be varied.
- Exemptions are characterised by the omission of the relevant clause.
- Variations are characterised by the replacement of the clause with alternative wording.
The programmes listed have approval from the Academic Quality and Standards Committee for the exemptions and/or variations to the regulations noted below.

A student who fails to progress under paragraphs 3.1 to 3.3, and to whom 4.1 does not apply, may Refer in Failed Modules totalling at most 15 ECTS (30 CATS).

A student in Part I or II with 45 ECTS (90 CATS) or 52.5 ECTS (105 CATS) of core modules who fails to progress under paragraphs 3.1 to 3.4, and to whom 4.1 does not apply, may Refer in Failed Modules totalling at most 22.5 ECTS (45 CATS).
A student in Part III or Part IV who fails to progress under paragraphs 3.1 to 3.4, and to whom 4.1 does not apply, may Refer in Failed Modules totalling at most 15 ECTS (30 CATS). |

Master of Physics Part II |
If you obtain an average mark of 55% or more over all modules and a minimum of 40% in each module you are qualified to proceed directly to Part III. If you do not achieve this you may refer, as described in Section IV General Regulations Progression, Determination and Classification of Results: Undergraduate and Integrated Masters Programmes, or transfer to BSc Physics. |
