Reference should be made to the University's General Regulations found in Section IV and Section V (Higher Degree Regulations) of the University Calendar.

Except where an opt-out has been granted by the University (see below) the following academic regulations apply in addition to the General Regulations.

1. Admissions
 
1.1 Specific entry criteria are detailed within programme specifications


2. Structure of Programme(s)
 
2.1 All modules in the undergraduate programmes are credit-rated in accordance with the Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme (CATS) as specified in Section IV of the University Calendar.
2.2 The programme can be taken full-time (normally three years).
2.3 The degree consists of three levels of study with a mixture of core and optional modules at all levels. Optional modules must be chosen in consultation with the personal tutor. The programme structures and examples of optional modules are detailed in the programme specification and at:

3. Progression
 
3.1 In addition to the requirements laid out in the University's Regulations for Progression, Determination and Classification of Results: Undergraduate and Integrated Masters Programmes, the following also applies:
3.2 Repeat: The repeat of a dissertation shall normally mean the setting aside of the original dissertation topic.
3.3 At the end of Part 1, for students studying Geography with Oceanography or Geography with Geology, it may be possible to transfer to the BSc Geography programme, subject to place availability. At the end of Part 1 it may be possible to transfer from a single honours BSc to the BA Geography programme subject to place availability.


4. Assessment
 
4.1 The performance of students shall be assessed by the Board of Examiners in accordance with the regulations governing the Progression, Determination and Classification of Results: Undergraduate and Integrated Masters Programmes as set out in Section IV of the University Calendar.


5. Award of Qualification(s)
 
5.1 Qualifications are awarded according to the regulations governing the Progression, Determination and Classification of Results: Undergraduate and Integrated Masters Programmes as set out in Section IV of the University Calendar.


6. Placements/Study Abroad/Exchange/Fieldwork
 
6.1 Students on Geography and Environment programmes may participate in an exchange programme to an overseas country. The marks achieved during the exchange will be included in the final degree class aggregate.


7. Other
 
7.1 As a research-led University, we undertake a continuous review of our programmes to ensure quality enhancement and to manage our resources. As a result, these regulations may be revised during a student’s period of registration, however, any revision will be balanced against the requirement that the student should receive the educational service expected. 7.2 Students are required to satisfy the academic and the Attendance and Completion of Programme Requirements as set out in section IV of the University calendar, the programme specification and the programme handbook. Those failing to do so may have their programme terminated (see University Calendar Section IV: Transfer, Suspension, Withdrawal and Termination).
