Admissions |

Candidates must normally be a graduate of an approved UK university or of the CNAA. The standard entry requirements are a 2:1 degree from a UK university or equivalent overseas qualification.
Candidates may be admitted to a programme by the Head of Management or his/her nominee on the recommendation of the Selector responsible for that programme.
Candidates may be required to undertake a period of preliminary study and to pass examinations as specified by the School before undertaking the programme of study
In addition to the University’s regulations governing admissions for competence in the English language specified in the University Calendar, the programme requires applicants to obtain an overall grade of 6.5 in IELTS with no score less than 6.0 for speaking and listening and no score less than 6.5 for reading and writing (or the equivalent TOEFL section scores). An IETLS score of 7.0, with 6.0 in all components, will be required for MSc Human Resource Management, with no individual mark less than 6.0 in any of the four categories.
All individuals are selected and treated on their relative merits and abilities in line with the University’s Equal Opportunities Policy. Disabled applicants will be treated according to the same procedure as any other applicant with the added involvement of the Enabling Support Office to assess their needs. |

2. |
Structure of Programme(s) |
|
The degree is taken on a full time basis over a 12 month period or on a part-time basis (where indicated) over a 24 month period.
The degree consists of one level of study with a mixture of core, compulsory and optional modules. Optional modules must be chosen in consultation with the personal tutor and are subject to availability. Students must select their options for each semester of study before the options deadline
The first component of the degree consists of taught modules. The second component consists of a dissertation for the award of the degree of Master of Science.

Progression |

The rules governing progression are as indicated in the University Calendar IV. |

4. |
Assessment |
|
The performance of candidates shall be assessed by the Board of Examiners in accordance with the University’s regulations governing examinations. All examinations will be held during the standard University examination periods.
Candidates who fail initially to satisfy the examiners in the taught modules will normally be permitted to take referral assessments in the normal supplementary period in accordance with the regulations governing progression, with the exception of MSc Human Resource Management where a student who fails to progress under paragraph 3.1 may, following academic counselling, take Referral assessments in failed modules totalling not more than 60 credit points (30 ECTS).
Candidates who fail initially to satisfy the examiners in the dissertation will normally be permitted to resubmit the dissertation on one occasion only. |

5. |
Award of Qualification(s) |
|
The degree may be awarded with Pass, Merit or Distinction.
The degree is awarded by Senate on the recommendation of the School to candidates who have satisfactorily completed an approved programme of study and have satisfied the assessment requirements.
An award of a taught Masters, Postgraduate Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate will be made on accumulation of the required number of credits as defined in the Credit Accumulation and Transfer (CATS) Regulations.

Other |
|
Students who are not enrolled on a Management approved programme of study require written permission from the School of Management before they may register for a Management module.
Ethics Committee approval and risk assessments must be completed where required.
Attendance monitoring will be conducted.
These regulations may be revised during the student's period of registration in accordance with the procedures approved by Senate. |
