Admissions |

1.1 |
The normal requirement for entry to all programmes is a good first degree (First or Upper Second Class) or equivalent in a relevant subject of an approved University or Institution of Higher Education. |
1.2 |
Candidates may apply for exemption from up to 40 credits of taught modules on the basis of prior certificated learning (APL) at Masters (M) level. The acceptance of such credits towards the award of a qualification shall be at the discretion of the Programme Director. No application for APL may be made towards the dissertation. |
1.3 |

Candidates must normally have at least two years' relevant practical or professional experience. |

Structure of Programme(s) |

2.1 |
The mode of attendance is part-time with a substantial commitment to independent study in addition to attendance at the taught elements. |
2.2 |
The programme duration is normally two years with the maximum period of enrolment being five years. |
2.3 |
The programme is based on a modular structure of 8 x 15-credit modules at M level. |

Progression |

3.1 |
Candidates must pass the taught (postgraduate diploma) component of the programme with an overall mark of 50% or more. |
3.2 |
Candidates with an overall mark of 60% or more are eligible to apply for the MSc in Companion Animal Behaviour. |

4. |
Assessment |
|
4.1 |
Assessment may include written assignments, examinations, practical work and a dissertation. |
4.2 |
Candidates for the MSc may be required to attend a viva voce examination. |
4.3 |
The module pass mark and overall pass mark is 50%. |
4.4 |
Candidates who fail in any taught module(s) including the dissertation shall be referred in the failed module(s). Referred modules are re-assessed and marks are capped. |
4.5 |
There is no repeat year. |
