Admissions |

1.1 |
The normal requirement for entry to all programmes is a good first degree (First or Second class) or equivalent in a relevant subject of an approved university or institution of higher education. |
1.2 |
No application for APL may be made towards the degree. |
1.3 |

2. |
Structure of Programme(s) |

2.1 |
The programme is studied over one year full-time. |
2.2 |
The programme may include lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical work, coursework and projects as specified for individual modules. |
2.3 |
Candidates for the MSc will be required to undertake a research dissertation on a topic to be agreed with their Supervisor. |
2.4 |
Candidates must submit their dissertation within a timescale agreed by the Programme Director. |

Progression |

3.1 |
Candidates must pass the taught component of the programme with an overall mark of 50% or more in order to undertake the MSc dissertation module. |

|
4. |
Assessment |
|
4.1 |
Assessment may include written assignments, examinations, research presentations and a dissertation. |
4.2 |
Candidates for the MSc may be required to attend a viva voce examination. |
4.3 |
The module pass mark and overall pass mark is 50%. |
4.4 |
Candidates who fail in any taught module(s) including the dissertation shall be referred in the failed module(s). Referred modules are re-assessed and marks are capped. |
4.5 |
Candidates who fail at the referral stage have the right to repeat all modules in a repeat year. Marks are uncapped and replace all previous marks. |
4.6 |
Candidates who fail their repeat year shall have their programme candidature terminated. |

Award of Qualification(s) |

6. |
Placements/Study Abroad/Exchange/Fieldwork |

6.1 |
Candidates are encouraged to undertake voluntary experience of at least 15 days duration. |

Other |

These regulations may be revised during the student's period of registration in accordance with procedures approved by Senate. |
