		Approved by AQSC on 1 June 2005 and by Senate on 22 June 2005The degrees of Master of Arts (MA), Master of Music (MMus), Master of Arts  in Education (MA(Ed)), Master of Science in Education (MSc(Ed)), Master of  Science (MSc), Master of Science in the Social Sciences (MSc(Social Sciences))  and Master of Laws (LLM) may be awarded by the Senate to postgraduate students  who have satisfactorily accumulated sufficient ECTS credits at the required  level  as prescribed by the Faculty concerned  and the regulations in Section IV of this Calendar.
          
 
Every candidate shall be allotted to a supervisor by the Faculty  Programme Committee on the recommendation of the Associate Dean with Faculty  responsibility for graduate student matters or his/her nominee(s). The  supervisor shall direct and advise the candidate in his/her studies and report  on his/her work and progress when requested to do so by the Faculty Programme  Committee.
 
The regulations for each programme shall prescribe the written  examinations to be taken and shall provide for the examination of dissertations  or other assessed work. Candidates shall present themselves for written  examinations and shall submit assessed work as required, and shall present a  dissertation on their individual project in accordance with the leaflet The  Production and Submission of Postgraduate Masters Degree Dissertations, (available to candidates  through the Faculty Student Office or on the University website), and with Faculty requirements.  Candidates may also be required to attend for an oral examination. In  conducting the oral examination, arrangements will be made where necessary to  accommodate the requirements of students with special communication needs.
