Admissions |

1.1 |
Candidates must have satisfactorily completed the Diploma for Advanced Studies: Companion Animal Behaviour, gaining an average of 60% overall in order to be able to apply to the MSc programme. |
1.2 |
Candidates must make their application within 2 years of completion of their PG Diploma. |
1.3 |

Structure of Programme(s) |

2.1 |
The programme is part-time over a maximum of a year. |
2.2 |
The dissertation module comprises a literature review and an original research study. |
2.3 |
Candidates for the MSc will be required to undertake a research dissertation on a topic to be agreed with the supervisor. |

3. |
Progression |
|
3.1 |
Candidates must pass the taught (postgraduate diploma) component of the programme with an overall mark of 60% or more in order to undertake the MSc dissertation module. |

4. |
Assessment |
|
4.1 |
Assessment may include written assignments, examination, practical work and a dissertation. |
4.2 |
Candidates for the MSc may be required to attend a viva voce examination. |
4.3 |
The module pass mark and overall pass mark is 40%. |
4.4 |
Candidates who fail in any taught module(s) including the dissertation shall be referred in the failed module(s). Referred modules are re-assessed and the marks are capped. |
4.5 |
There is no repeat year. |

5. |
Award of Qualification(s) |

5.1 |
Candidates who have satisfied the examiners and who have accumulated the requisite number of credits shall be awarded the qualification for which they have registered. |
5.2 |
Candidates who receive an overall average mark of 60% or above may be awarded the qualification with Merit. |
5.3 |
Candidates who achieve an overall average mark of 70% or above may be awarded the qualification with Distinction. |
5.4 |
The final award is awarded by Senate on the recommendation of the Examination Board to candidates who have satisfactorily completed an approved course of study and have fulfilled any other University requirements. |

7.1 |
These regulations may be revised during the student's period of registration in accordance with procedures approved by Senate. |
