3. |
Progression |
|
Students must normally complete each Part successfully before progressing to the next. A candidate not achieving the required standard may refer according to the regulations set out in the University’s progression rules (section IV of the Calendar).
3.1 |
Candidates for the Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma
Candidates achieving the required average and credit point total (ie: 60 for a certificate, 120 for a diploma), but failing to achieve the pass mark in modules totalling not more than 30 of the required credit points will be eligible for the Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma respectively. |
3.2 |
Repeat
For an External repeat students are required to sit all requisite examinations during the repeat year. Submission of coursework elements, such as laboratory reports, assignments is optional except those stipulated in the formal letter from the Examination Board.
It is the student's responsibility to establish if there have been any changes to the content of modules, changes to any coursework and deadlines, examination dates and times.
For an Internal repeat students are required to attend all lectures, laboratories, practicals and other sessions and submit all requisite coursework and sit all requisite examinations during the repeat year. |
3.3 |
A candidate may choose to sit a combination of modules that total 125 credits rather than 120 credits. In such circumstances the average across all 125 credits is taken as the mark for the taught element of the programme. |
3.4 |
The Faculty of Engineering and the Environment requires MSc dissertations to be marked on a percentage scale not a letter grade scale. |

4. |
Assessment |
|
Assessment of examinations and coursework is in accordance with University regulations (see University Calendar Section IV).
Details of the assessment for individual modules are given in module specifications. |

5. |
Award of Qualification(s) |
|
The final award is awarded by Senate on the recommendation of the Examination Board to candidates who have satisfactorily completed an approved course of study and have satisfied the assessment requirements. |

Placements/Study Abroad/Exchange/Fieldwork |

7. |
Other |
|
These regulations may be revised during the student's period of registration in accordance with the procedures approved by Senate.
Candidates are required to satisfy the academic and attendance requirements of the programme as laid out in the Programme Specification and the Student Handbook for the programme. Those failing to do so may have their course terminated. |
