Consultative Group for Safety and Occupational Health

Terms of reference
  1. To provide a forum for the discussion of policy issues and general concerns relating to Safety and Occupational Health in the University with Trades Unions and Safety representatives, and to report as appropriate to the Safety and Occupational Health Committee.

  2. To provide feedback to the member of UEG with special responsibility for Health and Safety to assist him/her to discharge his/her duties.

  3. To receive all appropriate documentation.

Membership

  Chair (appointed by Council)
  A Head of School from each Faculty (appointed by the Dean concerned)
  Up to four School Safety Officers (appointed after consultation by the Chair of the Consultative Group)
  The Director of Human Resources
  The Director of Student Services (or nominee)
  The Director of Estates and Facilities (or nominee)
  Two representatives of UCU
  Two representatives of UNITE
  Two representatives of UNISON
  The SUSU Health and Safety Officer
  The President of the Students' Union (or a sabbatical officer)
   
  Secretary : Secretariat


Note: This Group discharges the legal obligation for consultation required by the Safety Representatives and Safety Committee Regulations 1977.
