Entry requirements
Candidates for entry to the course must normally possess a degree of an approved University in an appropriate specialism. |

Structure of Programme(s) |

| 2.1 |
The programme comprises six taught core modules, two taught elective modules and a dissertation. |
| 2.2 |
The programme is offered full-time or part-time. Students are required to undertake the study over a period of not less than one year and not more than three years' full-time study, or not less than two years and not more than five years' part-time study. |

Progression |

| After having obtained the award, students may transfer to the second year of the EdD programme provided they have satisfactorily completed the core modules of the first year MPhil which are common to both programmes. |

| 4. |
Assessment |
| |
Candidates are required to complete successfully specified assessed coursework in appropriate modules. Coursework assignments will total 30,000 words.
Candidates who fail in up to two modules may be referred and re-submit work in those modules on one occasion by a date specified by the School Board. Failure in more than two modules will lead to termination of course registration.
Candidates who successfully complete all coursework are eligible to submit a dissertation of approximately 20,000 words.
Candidates who fail the dissertation may, with the approval of the School Board, resubmit a dissertation on one occasion only by a date specified by the School Board. |

Award of Qualification(s) |

| Candidates who pass all coursework and dissertation will be awarded the degree of MPhil (Research Methodology).
The degree of MPhil (Research Methodology) is awarded by the Senate, on the recommendation of the Board of the School of Education. |
