Terms of Reference

The role of the Committee is to plan for the long-term development of the University's infrastructure which covers the Estate, ICT and the supporting services, in particular those provided by Business and Community Services and the arts venues on campus.
  1. To bring forward strategic and policy proposals, along with their resource requirements, to UEG for the long-term development of the University's infrastructure, in support of the institution's Vision and overarching Strategic Plan.

  2. To maintain an oversight of, and monitor, the implementation of the Estate Strategy and the Information Technology Strategy on the basis of inter alia reports from the Capital Programme Project Board and Administrative Systems Replacement Programme Board and using, where appropriate, benchmarks agreed by UEG, and to report thereon to UEG.

  3. To approve spending on infrastructure projects within appropriate, approved University budgets, for example, the Capital Programme, and to present recommendations for projects to UEG for consideration.

  4. To ascertain whether the University's infrastructure is used effectively and efficiently and to ensure that it is 'fit for purpose' for current and foreseeable future needs, and to report thereon to UEG.

  5. To liaise effectively with the Safety and Occupational Health Committee on all health and safety issues which arise in respect of the University's infrastructure.

  6. To advise UEG on emerging risks and other matters in the area of infrastructure which UEG might request.
