Admissions |

Applicants for admission must hold one of the following academic qualifications: Higher National Certificate in a relevant topic; 2 A-levels and 5 GCSEs at Grade A-C. |

Structure of Programme(s) |

The mode of attendance is part-time. |
| 2.2 |
The duration of study is normally three years. |
| 2.3 |
The programme is a work-based programme for people working with guide dogs. |
| 2.4 |
The programme is based on a modular structure with 8 units at Certificate level (level 1) and 7 units at Diploma level (level 2). |

Progression |

| 3.1 |
Candidates will automatically progress to level 2 after they have passed level 1 and, if they pass level 2, will qualify as a Guide Dog Mobility Instructor and continue their employment with the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. |

Assessment |
| |
| 4.1 |
Assessments will cover a range of methods appropriate to the measurement of both academic and clinical skills. |

| 5. |
Award of Qualification(s) |

| 5.1 |
The Diploma may be awarded with Distinction if an average mark of over 70% is achieved in all modules. |
| 5.2 |
The final award is awarded by Senate on the recommendation of the School of Psychology Exam Board to candidates who have satisfactorily completed an approved course of study and have satisfied the assessment requirements. |

Placements/Study Abroad/Exchange/Fieldwork |

| 6.1 |
Students are required to complete fieldwork as part of their course of study, applying theory to practice. |

Other |

| 7.1 |
Students are employed by the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association whilst undertaking the course of study therefore the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association's employment policies and procedures apply. |
