1. This programme is available only to students registered for the Bachelor of Medicine course at the University of Southampton.
   
   
2. All students registered for the degree of BSc must:
   
   
   1. satisfy the Regulations for Admission to Degree Programmes as specified in the General Regulations;
      
      
   2. satisfy the appropriate programme requirements including successful completion of the Intermediate examination at the end of year 3 of the BM5 programme.
      
      
3. The programme has the following structure:
   
   
   1. The subjects available are divided into courses which are credit-rated in line with national recommendations.
      
      
   2. The first year of the Intercalated degree programme is run within the School of Biological Sciences and candidates are required to take the equivalent of 120 credit points to form a coherent pattern of study.
      
      
   3. Certain courses are core or compulsory and general information on this is included in the Programme Regulations.
      
      
   4. In the second year of the programme, in BM5, students complete an extended project part of which feeds in the requirement of the Intercalated Degree.
      
      
4. Candidates who have successfully met all the requirements of their programme will be recommended to the University for the award of the degree of BSc Biomedical Sciences (Intercalated). The classification will depend upon a candidate's performance in assessments in the Intercalated year and extended project.
