Regulations for Undergraduate and Integrated Masters Programmes

The University regulations for progression and award of degree will apply to BEng and MEng programmes in the School of Engineering Sciences with the exception of Part II and Part III progression on MEng programmes. In these cases, additional regulations apply as detailed below.

Progression to Part III MEng
In order to progress to Part III on the MEng programme you must pass all Part II modules at 40% except as allowed under "Compensation in Part II" below. You must additionally achieve a Part II overall average mark of 55%.

Compensation in Part II (for MEng Progression)
If you achieve the required overall average of 55% but fail to achieve 40% in modules totalling not more than 30 credit points (15 ECTS) you will be permitted to progress provided no module mark is less than the Qualifying Mark of 25%.

Progression to Part IV
In order to progress to Part IV you must pass all Part III modules at 40% except as allowed under "Compensation in Part III" below. You must additionally achieve an overall Part III Average of 52% plus a BEng Final Average mark of 52%.

Compensation in Part III (for MEng Progression)
If you achieve the required overall Part III average of 52% plus a final BEng Average of 52% and achieve 40% or above in the Individual Project (the only core module), but fail to achieve 40% in modules totalling not more than 30 credit points (15 ECTS), you will be permitted to progress provided no module mark is less than the Qualifying Mark of 25%.

Progression and award regulations for MSc Programmes are as detailed in the relevant Course Books.


Modules

The core and compulsory modules for each programme and its associated themes are as listed in the programme Course Book.

Optional modules available on each programme are listed on the option selection forms distributed during the second semester of the previous Part.
