- Calouste Gulbenkian Lecture
- The Calouste Gulbenkian Lecture in Portuguese Studies was established in 1980 as a result of a grant from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, and a further grant was made in 1986. The lecture series is devoted to aspects of Portuguese history and culture.
- The IBM Hursley Lecture
- The IBM Hursley Lecture was established in 2000 and is sponsored by IBM Laboratories which provides for an annual lecture at the University. The underlying theme of this lecture series is the interface between science and industry.
- Gwilym James Memorial Lecture
- The Gwilym James Memorial Lecture was established in 1971 to commemorate the life and work of Dr David Gwilym James, Vice-Chancellor of the University from 1952 to 1965. A public lecture is given from time to time on a topic in the general field of the arts.
- Hartley Memorial Lecture
- The Hartley Memorial Lecture was established in 1962 to commemorate the centenary of the opening of the Hartley Institution. A public lecture on a topic of general interest is organised annually by the University of Southampton Society Alumni Office.
- The Sir James Matthews Education Lecture
- The Sir James Matthews Education Lecture was established in 1987 to commemorate the life and work of Sir James Matthews, the eminent educationist and member of the University Council from 1934 to 1979 (Vice-Chairman from 1958). A lecture is given annually on a topic of relevance to current educational policy.
- Wade Foundation Lecture
- The Wade Foundation Lecture was established in 1970 as the result of a gift of money from the Wade Foundation which provides for an annual public lecture on a topic relevant to medicine.
- The Wellington Lecture
- The Wellington Lecture was established in 1989 and is financed by an endowment from His Excellency Manuel de Prado, Ambassador of Spain. A public lecture is given annually on aspects of the life and times of the first Duke of Wellington.
