1. Except in those cases in which the Council decides that a joint committee of the Council and the Senate should be established to consider an appointment to a particular post, the Head of each School shall be appointed by the Council from among the Academic Staff of the School concerned on the nomination of the Vice-Chancellor following consultation with the School: provided always that for what the Vice-Chancellor shall deem sufficient cause a temporary appointment of another member of the Academic Staff may be made by the Council.
   
   
2. The Heads of the Schools shall hold office for such period (subject to Section 31) upon such conditions as to re-appointment or otherwise as shall from time to time be prescribed by Ordinance.
