Research Policy Committee

Terms of Reference

To consider and to advise Policy and Resources Committee on matters relating to the University's strategy for research and on the deployment of resources for such purposes.
To lead the University's response to national research assessment and similar exercises, and to develop the University's research strategy in the light of the results.
To foster and enhance the University's relationship with key external agencies funding research.
To keep under review the financial and other implications of externally-supported research.
To allocate funds within the budget allocated by Council to support research-related activities, and to receive reports on the use of these funds.
To receive reports from the Deans on the research strategies and performance of the Schools.
To keep under review and monitor the implementation of the University's Ethics Policy.
To keep under review and monitor the implementation of the University's Conflicts of Interest Policy.

Note: Both Research Policy Committee and Education Policy Committee will consider and report on postgraduate issues as appropriate.
