Regulations for the Diploma of Higher Education

The Diploma of Higher Education will be awarded by Senate on the recommendation
of the College Board to candidates who have satisfactorily completed a
course of part-time study and who have satisfied the examination requirements.

The period of study will normally extend over not less than 2 years and
not more than 5 years.

Applicants for admission to the course must normally hold a Certificate
of Higher Education or equivalent qualifications/experience. All course
admissions will be subject to the approval of the Board of the College.

Up to 50% of the credits required to be awarded the Diploma of Higher Education
may be attained through the transfer of credits or the accreditation of
prior learning as approved by the Board of the College.

The course consists of required and optional units of learning. Each unit
of learning has a specified CATS rating in accordance with the CATS Guide
and Regulations.

To be eligible for the award, candidates must normally complete units amounting
to 240 credit points at a pass grade or above in each unit. The total of
240 credit points includes 120 credit points from the Certificate of Higher
Education or equivalent qualifications/experience. At least 90 credit points
must be at level 2.

Examination will be by assessment of written work and such other methods
of examination as are approved by the Board of the College as appropriate
to the course. Candidates who have successfully completed the required
units and any additional subject specific requirements will be recommended
to Senate for the award of Diploma of Higher Education.

Subject to the approval of the Board of the College, candidates who have
been unsuccessful in the examination of any unit may normally submit themselves
to be re-examined in that unit on one occasion only. The conditions for
the re-examination of each candidate shall be prescribed by the Board of
the College.
