Institute of Sound and Vibration Research
The aims and functions of the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research are:
- To conduct an undergraduate course in acoustical engineering and postgraduate courses in sound and vibration, in automotive refinement, in applied digital signal processing and in audiology; to provide further postgraduate and post-experience courses in applied acoustics and vibrations; and to initiate courses of instruction in sound and vibration for undergraduate students of the University.
- To disseminate information about sound and vibration to professional groups and members of the public by means of conferences, special courses, extra-mural lectures, publications and private consultations.
- To conduct fundamental and applied research on all aspects of sound and vibration.
- To engage in collaborative programmes of research and testing with other research and industrial bodies.
- To carry out such other functions as may be approved by the Board of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, the Senate and the Council of the University.
